Professional Background
Mr. McDowell was admitted to the Bar in Indiana in 1980 and has represented clients in virtually all aspects of family law. While maintaining a private practice, Mr. McDowell also spent 27 years with Rolls-Royce Corporation devoting 20 years to contracts management experience in both commercial agreement (domestic and international) and U. S. Government Contracts.
While at Rolls-Royce Corporation, formerly Allison Gas Turbine Division of General Motors, Mr. McDowell held progressive positions of responsibility as Litigation Liaison, Senior Contracts Administrator, Manager of Countertrade and Offset, Government Property Administrator, Sr. Contracts Manager, and in 1995, he was promoted to Director of Contracts, Government Property and Exports reporting to the General Counsel.
While in this position he led the Integrated Program Management (IPM) process for the Legal and Contracts Department, directed the development of sophisticated databases for contract management and represented all Rolls-Royce North American affiliates in developing worldwide purchase orders and service as North American member on the International Contracts Policy Board. |
While his tenure as Director of Contracts was the most rewarding period of his corporate career, he accepted an opportunity to introduce the discipline developed in Contracts to the Supply Chain Management organization, as Commercial Director. From 1993 to 1994, Mr. McDowell was General Counsel for ABI Corporation; a joint venture company between General Motors and Bio-General Gas Corporation to promote the sale of industrial gas turbine generator sets in Russia.
Military Service
Mr. McDowell served for four years in the U. S. Marine Corps.
Education
Mr. McDowell attended Ball State University where he graduated with honors receiving a B. S. in Economics. He earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law.
Accreditations
Mr. McDowell is certified as a Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), by the National Contract Management Association.
Professional memberships
Mr. McDowell is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association—Family Law Section. He also is a member of the Hendricks County Bar Association. |
