Professional Background
Nick Schmutte is a fourth generation Hoosier, a Navy veteran, and a Grandfather. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Marian College, a Master of Science from Butler University, and his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis. He is a certified motorcycle safety instructor and is passionate about riding, Nick and his wife, Helen, usually cover about 15,000 miles a year on their BMW K1200LT.
Nick retired from Rolls-Royce Corporation after 37 years of service. Twenty-three of those years he worked in the factory as an hourly employee. He ultimately reached journeyman status in skilled trades. He transferred to salary in the Contracts Department after graduating from law school, where he finished his career as a contracts manager.
During his employment with Rolls-Royce, he maintained a private practice in general law. Subsequent to his retirement, he worked with several law firms in Marion and Hendricks counties before joining with Bob McDowell and Mike Singer to provide a wider range of legal services to their clients.
